Madalynn “Maddie” Hadfield Annandale, VA Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Madalynn ”Maddie” Hadfield — A Bright Light Gone Too Soon

Madalynn “Maddie” Sue Hadfield, age 14, of Annandale, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, yet her memory remains a source of enduring light and inspiration.

Maddie will be remembered as a radiant and compassionate young soul whose kindness touched countless lives. A student at Annandale Middle School, she brought warmth, joy, and sincerity to every interaction. Her gentle spirit, bright smile, and thoughtful nature made her a cherished friend, a devoted daughter, and a loving sister. She shared a particularly special bond with her brother Brady, whom she supported with unwavering love, especially within his blind hockey community.

A true “heart warrior,” Maddie faced life with courage and grace. Her time at Camp Odayin, a place close to her heart, reflected her resilience and her ability to embrace joy even in the face of challenges. There, she formed meaningful friendships and uplifted others with her positivity and compassion.

Maddie found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—swimming at the beach, tubing on the water, listening to music, and indulging her love for sweets. She treasured family adventures, especially RV trips that created lasting memories across the United States and Canada. Her dreams were as beautiful as her spirit, including her wish to rescue dogs and one day walk along the beaches of Hawaii.

She is survived by her loving parents, Nicholas and Melissa Hadfield; her brother Brady; her grandparents; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, and extended family who will continue to honor her memory. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and uncle.

As we mourn Maddie’s loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary love, kindness, and joy she brought into the world in her 14 years. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and light—a reminder to live with an open heart and to cherish every moment.

May her family find comfort in the outpouring of support and in the lasting impact Maddie made. Her life, though brief, was profoundly meaningful, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
